My first blog... EVER!

Hello everyone!

So, as you can see by my profile, my name is Georgie Tedora and this is my first ever blog!

I have recently started my top-up degree with Middlesex University attending the BAPP course and one of the first tasks is to start your own blog. So here it is!

I must admit I've been very nervous about starting my blog, as I had no idea where to start! It's always intrigued me but I have never taken the leap to do one for myself, and now I'm grateful I've been given the push!
But, like I said I am completely new to this, so any advice/ideas would be more than welcome! Just comment below!

Anyways, here's a little bit more about myself...

I am and always have been a dancer. I started attending dance classes at the age of 2 (but previous to that you can guarantee I was dancing at home all the time!) and I have been dancing ever since.
I currently work for 2 dance companies and volunteer at a local secondary school in the dance department to further my knowledge in the hope to become a qualified dance teacher.
And this is where the BAPP course comes in. I already have a foundation degree, but in order to obtain the school teacher qualification I need a full degree. Not only this, but a friend recommended how fantastic this course was for her and encouraged me to do it. Once I read about the course it sounded amazing, and I knew I needed to do it! I'll be honest, I absolutely love to learn!

So here I am, doing my very own blog. I'll be keeping this updated and sharing ideas which have worked and also those that haven't, so again would completely appreciate any comments coming my way!

I can honestly say I'm still very nervous, but excited too!

Anyways that's enough about me for today, keep an eye for future posts!

That's all folks!

First Week Back!

Hi all,  So summer is officially over, and I think the weather is definitely reminding us of that!  During the summer I had a lot of free time, so I was researching and planning for the year ahead, as well as going along to so many interviews for new job opportunities to help develop my career.  As this was the first week back at university it was time to put my plans to practice. I must admit I have struggled having such a huge gap between modules but I am now feeling ready and replenished to give Module 3 my all!  Let's get going! I am now working in 2 different stage schools, one is definitely more community based. Alongside this I am still working for the same dance company where I teach all ages from 3-100 years old (and that is no exaggeration). They have also offered me office work within their company which is amazing as I can learn what goes on 'behind the scenes' when running your own company. I have also signed up to 2 diffe...

Task 3a: Current Networks

For the next few tasks we will be looking into networking. So the best place to start would be to look at our own networks. I have quite a few different networks, however I haven't wrote them down before so I was looking forward to doing my first map of my network to see how they connect. To network myself I find some of the best ways are through conversations, contacts, web 2.0, events and conferences. Doing these really helps you expand your network.  Ever heard the saying 'it's not what you know, but who you know.' ?  Now this doesn't help everyone but i find the more people you know in this industry the more opportunities you get. I like to get involved with as many projects as I can, even if it's volunteering because that opens you up to meeting more and more people and from there they can introduce you to their contacts. To me networking is a never ending process it will constantly build throughout your career. Below are images of my individual c...

Helpful Things...

Hello again, Aren't you lucky, my 3rd blog in a few days!  Well, this is a quick simple one for those of you on the BAPP arts course (also for those who aren't!) but I have found a few helpful things that I thought I would share with you all.  The first,we have reached part 2 of our course which as you will know is all about reflective writing. We have all been asked to keep a journal. However if you are anything like me, life can seem to get very busy so finding the time to write in your journal can be a bit difficult. Especially as I have to carry a lot around with me most of the time so adding an extra book equals even more weight! Therefore I have found a easy, free online site which you can keep journals on, and there is even an app for your phone. I am using this for my 'on-the-go' journal as it is quick and easy and then writing up my proper journal of an evening to make sure I don't miss anything!  The site/app is called Penzu, the link is here: http...
